Life really can be a picnic!

Everyone loves a picnic! This blog is about some of the things I love the most, and the term "picnic" just about covers them all. First of all, a picnic has to include food; simple food that is easy to fix. Next, you need someplace fun or different to visit; a nice, peaceful location. And of course, you always need to take along a good book to read and a well-used quilt to spread everything out on. So, there you have it! Easy recipes, good books, fun quilts along with some interesting, down-to-earth places to visit. You can even take your family or a friend or two if you want.

Falling In Love!

"This is your heart.  Keep it locked until the chap shows up with the key." ~ Jean Webster

Saturday was a glorious day.  My #3 son was married to his sweetheart.  With the help of some friends who rescued me with sewing the binding, I was able to finish this quilt in the nick of time to give to the happy couple.  This quilt was made with #2 Cake Recipe from Moda.  I used the left over strips to make the skinny border.

As the parents of the groom we were in charge of the luncheon.  There would be quite some time between the ceremony and the luncheon so I made these snack bags to tide people over until we could make it to the luncheon.  They included trail mix, caramel popcorn and apple juice.  We used a fall theme for both the shower and the luncheon.

Treats for the table.

This is the book that I just finished last night.  It's an oldie but a goodie!  Daddy Long Legs by Jean Webster.  I enjoyed the simple illustrations in this version.
