Life really can be a picnic!

Everyone loves a picnic! This blog is about some of the things I love the most, and the term "picnic" just about covers them all. First of all, a picnic has to include food; simple food that is easy to fix. Next, you need someplace fun or different to visit; a nice, peaceful location. And of course, you always need to take along a good book to read and a well-used quilt to spread everything out on. So, there you have it! Easy recipes, good books, fun quilts along with some interesting, down-to-earth places to visit. You can even take your family or a friend or two if you want.

What will Your Legacy Be?

"Grandmother's quilt hangs in my sewing room to inspire me-to connect me.  Tradition is not only what comes to us from before, created in the past.  It is also what we newly create to become the inheritance of future generations, who will talk about us in their turn.  We come from an unseen past and move on to an unknown future--from love into hope."~ Aliske Webb

My friend, Patti, and I had the chance to go to the "Quilt Show in the Barn" held in an elite neighborhood in Holladay, Utah.  A shuttle bus carried us from the parking area to the old 1890's barn. The cost was $5 to get in and most of it goes to charity.  I loved the 3 story barn along with the other buildings and the animals.  But most of all I loved the quilts on display.

Before we got to the quilt show we went to breakfast at Penny Ann's Café in Taylorsville.  They are famous in Utah for their Breakfast and their "Heavenly Hot Cakes".

I bought this book at the quilt show in the boutique section for $1.  What a find!  I started reading it and I already love it.  It's about a Grama who teaches her granddaughters how to quilt and gives them lessons about life and how to be successful at the same time.
